Meet Our Executives

Dr. Washington has been working at Pinehurst Surgical for 15 years as an Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician. She is committed to her patients and trying to resolve the source of their pain. Prior to Pinehurst Surgical, Dr. Washington worked at Womack Army Medical Center for six years. She enjoyed working with the military population and experiencing the sacrifice and hard work it takes to be a soldier.
Over the years, Dr. Washington has felt a need for not only improving her patient’s pain, but has found that improving their overall wellness is essential to treatment success. This prompted her to look for an alternative to the classic teaching about chronic diseases. Dr. Washington is currently studying Functional Medicine at the Institute for Functional Medicine. This alternative approach to medicine is patient-centered. The focus is on treating the root cause of chronic disease as opposed to diagnosis of disease and amelioration of symptoms. Dr. Washington hopes to bring a new way of thinking about chronic disease to the Sandhills.
She is also co-owner of Southern Pines CrossFit. It is here she has seen the impact of proper nutrition and regular exercise on a persons’ body composition, confidence, mood and overall wellness. Dr. Washington believes that the sense of community CrossFit builds is what allows people to try new things and achieve what they never thought possible for their health.
Dr. Washington was born in Philadelphia and moved to North Carolina in 2001. She is married to her medical school sweetheart and has two lovely college-aged children. Although at first it was a culture shock, moving to North Carolina was the best decision she and her husband have made. Pinehurst has been an incredible place to raise children and offers a balance of work and play that is hard to find.
